Batt-Web! |

I thought that with this being the "information age" (and all), it might be fun to have a few web pages dedicated to the Batterson's "on the web". This also includes things named Batterson (Cities, Parks, etc.). On this page, are the Batterson's I either know, or have known. If you're really into true family genealogy (...I have to admit that I'm too lazy to get "hard-core" into my families genealogy) you can contact my father (Charles Batterson) who has traced our families ancestry all the way back to Scotland. His email is nereus2006@sbcglobal.net. I personally started this site as a more-fun thing for my kids. Have a suggestion? Please feel free to E-mail me with your Batterson web-link!
Ray Nicholson Batterson (my great grandfather) was a local Pasadena, California businessman specializing in plumbing. While unsubstantiated, we believe he innovated the first contractors "Service Truck" (circa 1922). You can click on the image below, to load a full sized image of the flyer; originally distributed by Ray, to the customers of the Ray N Batterson Plumbing Company. If I'm not mistaken, that's a brand new, 1922 Model-A Ford! Ray's son, (my great uncle Dave) told me that after Ray had passed away and the truck had been sold, a couple of G-men (FBI agents) showed up to ask questions about the service truck. It seems that the buyer's never took Rays company logo's and lettering off the sides. Oh, yeah, turns out, they were bootleggers too. . Even then in those "very hard to earn a living" days, as a plumber, Ray found the means to send his four sons to schooling that today, makes me proud of the grandfather and great-uncles I have and have had.
Charles Samuel Batterson (my grandfather): "Chuck" as he was known, was a good natured man. His call for civic duty was so strong, he was acknowledged and decorated by mayor after mayor (of the fine city of Arcadia, California). His wife (and my grandmother) Eunice, was known to her grandchildren as "Mimi". She was a tough, but loving grandmother. She was known in the community for her avid rose gardening, which won her many accolades. Because my grandfather owned a prominent Realty company in Arcadia, California (Batterson-Realty of course), I grew up always able to see his picture on the back of our city phone book. I'd like to add a link to the picture {here} if it can be found.
Norman Batterson: I called him "Uncle Norm" (he was actually my dad's cousin). As well as being an engineer for Weber Aircraft, Norm had been a member of the famed Altadena Search & Rescue team (a non-profit rescue organization in Southern California foothill mountains) for over thirty (yup, 30) years. Norm seemed to had an uncanny technical understanding and knowledge of things around him. I found this cool picture of Norm on the internet, you can click on the image for a full-size version (below is the description that it came with): NASA Photo ID: S65-57481 File Name: 10074125.jpg Film Type: 35mm Date Taken: 11/01/65 Title: Astronaut James Lovell undergoes weight and balance tests Description: Astronaut James A. Lovell Jr., pilot of the Gemini 7 space flight, undergoes weight and balance tests in the Pyrotechnic installation Building, Merritt Island. Talking with Lovell are (left to right) Charlie Beaty, McDonnell Aircraft Corporation; Karl Stoien, McDonnell Aircraft; NASA suit technician Al Rochford; and Norm Batterson, Weber Aircraft Corporation.
